How tuition works

The figures are on our enrollment page, and we go through them with you. This page is about what sets them and how it all works.

  • Tuition is set by the plan you choose: an adult membership, a student term or the teens' plan. Adult memberships cover every adult class, in the gi, without it and on judo night, so there is no extra for a second style.

    • Adult, student or teen plan

    • Fundamentals and all-levels classes both included

    • Figures on the enrollment page and at your first class

  • Registration

A one-time joining fee covers your enrollment file and your first belt. It is due when you join, and we explain what it covers before you pay.

  • Holding a place

A place on the teens' class is held when you enroll. The Tuesday class has a waitlist, and offers go out by email in the order families asked.

  • Billing

Memberships are billed monthly, by card or autopay through the enrollment page. A student term is billed once for the semester, or in monthly parts if you ask us.

  • Help with tuition

Ask us whether a payment plan or a scholarship is open this month. We answer in writing.

  • An adult membership runs six months, then month to month. A student term ends with the semester. The teens' plan is month to month. To stop, tell us in writing with 30 days' notice. You pay for the month in progress and nothing after the notice ends. Ask us how to pause for travel or an injury.

  • Missed classes and make-ups

If you miss a class, come to another class at the same level that week. A pause for travel, exams, illness or an injury is a conversation, not a form: tell the front desk.

  • Uniforms and other costs

Beyond your plan there is a uniform, which we lend for your first classes, and promotions. Seminars with visiting coaches are announced ahead and are paid for separately. The front desk lists each one and what it is for before you pay.
