Family policies
What adult students, college students and parents of teens ask before a first class.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Watching class and promotions
Parents of teens and anyone thinking of joining are welcome on the bench by the door and can watch any class. At a promotion we ask everyone to stay quiet until the instructor has finished, and to keep flash photography off.
What to wear and what to leave at the door
A plain t-shirt and shorts or loose pants are fine for a first class. Take off jewelry, tie hair back, keep nails short and leave shoes off the mat. We lend a uniform for your first classes, and the front desk explains what to look for before you buy one.
When to stay home
If you have a fever, a cough, a skin rash or anything that could spread on a shared mat, stay home and message us. A missed class can be made up. Please don't send health details through the website.
Pickup after the teens' class
Teens sign in at the front desk. A teen waits inside until a parent or a named adult arrives, unless a parent has told us in writing that the teen walks or rides home.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for holidays and for severe weather. We post closures on the booking page and text everyone on the class list that afternoon.
Stopping a membership or term
Tell us in writing and give 30 days' notice. Billing stops when the notice ends. A student term ends with the semester. The same words are on the how tuition works page.
Phones in class
Phones stay on silent and off the mat. Filming in class needs an instructor's say-so, and never during a roll.

Sign-in and collecting teens
Everyone signs in at the front desk. Teens stay in the school until a parent or a named adult collects them.
Mat hygiene
Clean uniforms, short nails and a shower before class. Mats are wiped down every night.
Tapping
A tap or the word stop ends a drill or a roll at once, at every level. Instructors teach it on the first night.
Teens' classes
A second adult is in the school during teens' classes, and parents can sit by the door in view of the mat.
Parents watching
Parents of teens can watch any class from the bench by the door, and the instructors are glad to talk after class.
Class size
Adult classes have up to 24 students, and the teens' class up to 14.
